Alpha Glucosidase Inhibitors
Alpha glucosidase inhibitors are used in type II diabetes and function by decreasing available glucose for digestion by inhibiting the enzyme, alpha-glucosidase. Alpha-glucosidase breaks down complex carbohydrates in the gut. Gastrointestinal disturbances are common with use of these medications.
