Dehydroemetine
Dehydroemetine is used in the treatment of entamoeba histolytica and works by blocking chain elongation in protein synthesis by arresting the translocation of tRNA within the ribosome. Due to side effects other agents are preferred. Side effects include cardiotoxicity and neuromuscular weakness.
