Direct Acting Cholinergic Agonists
Direct acting cholinergic drugs mimic acetylcholine and bind to nicotinic and muscarinic receptors. These drugs are generally not considered very specific to nicotinic or muscarinic receptors; however, pilocarpine and bethanechol show preference for muscarinic receptors.
