Glycoprotein IIB/IIIA Receptor Inhibitors
Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor inhibitors block GP IIb/IIIa from binding to fibrinogen, which inhibits platelet aggregation. Abciximab is a monoclonal antibody that binds GP IIb/IIIa. These drugs are used primarily for prevention of ischemic complications in percutaneous coronary intervention. Bleeding is an adverse effect.
