Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Analogs
Analogs of gonadotropin-releasing hormone are primarily used to treat hormone dependent cancers and other hormone dependent conditions. Continuous administration results in decreased FSH and LH levels. Lower FSH and LH levels decrease release of gonadal steroid hormones, which is the source of the drug's effectiveness for hormone dependent conditions.
Hot flashes, ovarian cysts, depression, and gynecomastia are notable adverse effects.
