Oxytocin
Oxytocin is secreted by the pituitary gland and is used primarily for its effects on the uterus. Oxytocin is used for induction of labor, maintenance of labor, and in the post-partum period to assist in control of postpartum hemorrhage.
Uterine rupture and hypertension (ADH-like effects) are potential side-effects.
