Beta Blockers with Partial Agonist Activity
Acebutolol and Pindolol inhibit β1 and β2 receptors competitively. These medications partially stimulate the receptors but are much weaker than the endogenous hormones, which results in the medication's effects. These medications are useful in treating hypertension in patients with bradycardia as the medications do not cause as significant of a heart rate drop as other beta blockers.
