Butyrophenones
Droperidol is a medication that is indicated for the treatment of postoperative and operative nausea and vomiting. The medication works by blocking dopamine receptors in the central nervous system. Droperidol also interacts with a number of other receptors and causes sedation. Droperidol is sometimes used off-label for the treatment of agitation. Droperidol is known to cause prolongation of the QT interval as well as akathisia.
