Neurokinin-1 Receptor Blockers

Aprepitant is a neurokinin-1 receptor blocker. Aprepitant is indicated in the treatment of chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting as well as postoperative nausea and vomiting. Aprepitant works by blocking the effects of substance P, which is released in response to chemotherapy and stimulates chemoreceptors in the brainstem, by blocking the neurokinin-1 receptor.  Aprepitant is metabolized by CYP450 system, so it affects metabolism of other medications such as warfarin.
