GLP-1 Agonists
GLP-1 analogs such as exenatide are used in the treatment of type II diabetes. GLP-1 analogs work in the same manner as endogenous GLP-1 by stimulating insulin secretion, slowing gastric emptying, improving satiety, and decreasing glucagon secretion. Semaglutide and liraglutide also have an indication for use in weight management. Pancreatitis is one known serious side effect.
