Linezolid
Linezolid is an antibiotic used to treat drug resistant infections including VRE, MRSA, and penicillin resistant strep infections. Linezolid works by inhibiting the 70s initiation complex by binding to the 23s ribosomal RNA on the 50s subunit. Caution must be used with linezolid in combination with other serotonergic medications and MAOis. Optic neuritis and thrombocytopenia are also possible side effects.
