Neuraminidase Inhibitors
Neuraminidase is an enzyme found on the surface of the influenza virus and plays a role in viral budding. Oseltamivir and zanamivir work by inhibiting neuraminidase, which will reduce viral infectivity. Neuraminidase inhibitors are used for treatment and prophylaxis of influenza infections. Resistance is common to these medications.
