Serotonin (5-HT3) Receptor Blockers
5-HT3 receptor blockers are used for the treatment of generalized nausea as well as for postoperative nausea, and chemotherapy induced nausea. These medications interact with both central and peripheral serotonin receptors to mediate their effects. QT prolongation can occur, especially with ondansetron. Somnolence is a known side effect but is generally mild.
